Product Description
2-Methyl-2,4-pentanediol is obtained by acetone condensation to form dipropanol, followed by liquid-phase hydrogenation. The purification method involves dissolving 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol in 1% sodium hydroxide solution, heating at 140°C for 1 hour, then performing vacuum distillation below 140°C.
It serves as an additive for rust and grease removal in metal surface treatment agents, a textile auxiliary, and an ingredient in coatings and emulsion paints. Beyond its use in cosmetics and as a pesticide stabilizer, it also functions as a moisturizer in daily chemicals, a raw material for fragrances and flavors, and finds applications in hydraulic oils, high-temperature lubricants, brake fluids, dry cleaning solvents, printing inks, pigment dispersants, and wood preservatives.
