Product Description
Sodium sulfite (Na₂SO₃) is an inorganic compound typically appearing as a white crystalline powder or granules. It is highly soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol, exhibiting strong reducing properties. When exposed to acids, it releases sulfur dioxide gas.
Industrial-grade sodium sulfite is widely used in papermaking, textile dyeing, water treatment, and other fields as a reducing agent, dechlorinating agent, or preservative. Food-grade sodium sulfite serves as a food additive (E221) in applications such as fruit and vegetable preservation and wine production, where it acts as an antioxidant and color stabilizer. However, its usage must be strictly controlled to ensure safety.
